Who can create an account

Open sign-up, or only the people on your list.

You decide whether anyone with the link can create an account in your app, or only people you add first. The setting is in Settings, Cloud, Sign-up, under "Who can create an account". It applies to the preview and the published app alike.

The two choices

  • Anyone with the link. People sign up themselves on your app's register page.
  • Only people I add first. Only the email addresses you allowed can create an account. Everyone else is told to ask you.

People who already have an account keep it when you change the setting.

Choose who is allowed

With Only people I add first, you pick where the allowed addresses come from:

  • People I list here. Type the email addresses, one per line or separated by commas, and press Add to the list. You can add or remove addresses any time, up to 500. When the list is empty, your own email is added, so you can keep signing in.
  • People in one of the app's tables. Use the email column of a table your app already keeps, such as a members or staff register. Choose the Table and the E-mail column. Upper and lower case do not matter.

If your app has no table with an email column yet, ask for one in the chat, or list the addresses instead.

Your app's members table can be the source too, when it has an email column. Add a person there before they sign up: their address lets them create an account, and their row becomes theirs the first time they sign in.

Press Save. Yorki applies the setting to the preview straight away, and to the published app too when it is live.

Invite someone

Once your app is published, you can invite people instead of waiting for them to find the register page. In Sign-up, type an address under Invite someone and press Invite. Yorki creates their account in your published app and sends them an email, "Set your password for" your app's name, with a link. When they set a password there, their email counts as confirmed and they can sign in straight away.

  • With People I list here, the address is also added to your list, and each address on the list has its own Invite button. After an invitation it shows Invited with the date, and Send again a couple of minutes later.
  • Someone who already has an account gets the email too, so they can set a new password.
  • A visitor your list refused can be invited from People who asked to join.
  • Invitations come from your published app, so the button appears only once the app is live. If the card says "E-mail is not available for this app", publish again; if it says "Sending is paused today", your app reached its daily limit of sign-in emails and Yorki is looking at it.

Each invitation is one sign-in email, and an app can send up to 200 of those a day.

What a refused visitor sees

Someone whose address is not allowed sees: "Sign-up is by invitation. Ask the owner of this app to add your e-mail, then try again."
