When something goes wrong

Preview errors, failed builds, cloud notices and how to report a problem.

Most problems have a quick way out. Find what you see below.

The preview shows an error

When your app hits an error in the preview, a notice appears above the composer: "The preview ran into an error", or "Something did not work in the preview" for quieter problems.

  • Fix it sends a request to fix the error, with the details attached.
  • Details shows what happened and where.
  • Ignore hides the notice.

You can also describe what you were doing instead. The error details travel with your next message either way, so Yorki works from what actually happened rather than a guess.

The preview is not showing

  • "The app is not running right now." Press Start preview. It takes a few seconds.
  • "Your preview went to sleep after a while idle." Press Resume preview.
  • "Reconnecting to your preview…" Yorki is reconnecting by itself. If it gives up, press Start preview.
  • Something looks stale. Press the reload button above the preview, or open the preview in a new tab.

A request did not work

If a build fails, your app stays as it was and the request costs nothing. The chat says what happened:

  • "I couldn't complete this." Rephrase the request, or split it into smaller steps.
  • "Something went wrong on our side." Try again. Some of these are retried automatically.
  • "The preview was slow to start." Wait a minute and try again.

If a change worked but you do not like it, restore an earlier version.

Yorki refused a request

A reply saying a request is "outside what Yorki allows" means it breaks the platform rules. A request that is not about building an app gets a reply asking what you want to build. Neither costs anything.

Your published app's cloud refused requests

When visitors to your published app run into a refused request, such as a failed sign-in or a save that was not allowed, a notice appears above the composer: "Your published app's cloud refused a request". Fix it starts a fix, Details shows the requests and Ignore hides them until new ones arrive.

See Cloud logs and usage for the full picture, and Errors and automatic fixes for errors in the published app itself.

Data is not being saved

If the note at the end of a request says "On screen only", what people enter in that part of the app is not saved yet. Ask Yorki to save it in the cloud, for example "Save the bookings in the cloud so they are still there after a reload." If your app does not have cloud yet, see Turn on cloud.

You are out of credits

The composer is disabled and a notice says "You're out of credits for this month", with the date your credits reset. See Credits.

Report a problem

If something in Yorki itself is broken or confusing, use Report a problem at the bottom of the sidebar. Describe what you were doing, what went wrong and what you expected, and add a screenshot if it helps. The report goes straight to the team.

For anything else, write to [email protected] or see the support page.
