Yorki

Quick start

Build, preview and publish your first app, from the first sentence to a live address.

This guide takes you from a first sentence to an app on its own web address. You do not need to know how to code.

Before you start

You need a Yorki account. During the alpha, access is approved by hand: sign up, answer two short questions about yourself, and you get an email when you are in. See Your account for the details.

Build your first app

  1. Describe what you want. On the dashboard, type into the box under "What do you want to build?" and press Enter. One or two sentences is enough: who the app is for and what it should do.

For example: "A booking page for my yoga studio with a weekly class calendar, a sign-up form for each class and our opening hours."

  2. Answer a few questions. If your description leaves room for interpretation, Yorki asks a few short questions, one at a time. Each one has a recommended answer already selected. Pick an answer, choose Write your own…, or press Skip all to let Yorki decide.

  3. Decide who can do what. When your app needs to save things, such as bookings or accounts, Yorki asks three quick questions: who can use the app, who sees what, and whether there are admins. See Who can do what.

  4. Choose the look. The design steps offer light or dark, a colour feel, typography and a layout. Every step has a pick ready, so Skip all is always safe.

  5. Watch it build. The chat shows each step as it happens: planning, writing the code, creating images, reviewing the design. The preview on the right fills in as soon as the first pages are ready.

  6. Try it out. Click around in the preview. Use the device button to switch between desktop, tablet and phone widths, or open the preview in a new tab.

  7. Ask for changes. Type what you want different into the box under the chat, for example "Make the header stay at the top while scrolling and add our address to the footer." Every change becomes a new version you can go back to.

  8. Publish. Press Publish, pick an address ending in .yorki.app and confirm. Your app is live and you can share the link.

What it costs

Every request uses credits for the work Yorki does to fulfil it. A request that fails costs nothing. Your monthly allowance and what each request used are on the Credits page. See Credits.
