Questions and design

The questions Yorki asks before a first build, and how you choose the look.

Before the first build, Yorki can ask a few questions and offer some design choices. They appear one at a time in a panel above the composer. You can answer, write your own answer, or skip.

The questions

When your first prompt leaves room for interpretation, Yorki asks a few short questions about the app, such as which pages it needs or what visitors should be able to do.

  • Each question shows a counter, such as "2 of 4".
  • One answer is already selected and marked recommended.
  • Write your own… lets you type an answer.
  • The arrows go back and forward between questions.
  • Skip all skips the remaining questions and the design steps, and starts the build with choices Yorki makes for you.

If your prompt is already specific, or you start from a plan, Yorki skips the questions.

Who can do what

When the app needs to save things, Yorki asks three more questions before building: who can use the app, who sees what, and whether there are admins. Your answers decide the rules your app's cloud enforces. See Who can do what.

The design steps

Then come up to four design steps:

  1. Light or dark? For styles that come in both, with Let Yorki choose as an option.
  2. Which color feel is right? A few colour cards, sometimes with a top pick for your kind of business. You can also type a colour name or code, such as "deep forest green" or "#1B4332".
  3. Which typography fits? Font pairings, each showing the heading font.
  4. Which layout structure fits best? Small sketches of page layouts. Apps that people work in, such as dashboards and trackers, skip this step.

The last step's button reads Start the build. Skip all keeps the picks that are already selected.

If your prompt already described the design, for example a colour and a font style, Yorki skips the design steps and starts building.

The styles

Yorki's designs start from one of ten styles, chosen to fit your subject:

StyleFeels like
ModernClean and current, the default for products, tech and shops
MinimalCalm and editorial, for writers, personal sites and cafés
LuxuryUpscale, for fine dining, boutiques, spas and weddings
DarkTechnical or nocturnal, for gaming, developer tools and nightlife
AuroraLuminous glass, for AI products and creative tools
CorporateCredibility first, for consultancies, law, finance and B2B
PlayfulFriendly energy, for kids, pets, parties and casual games
OrganicNatural and warm, for wellness, gardens and handmade brands
RetroEra nostalgia, for diners, arcades and vintage goods
BrutalistRaw and bold, only when you ask for that look

A style word in your prompt, such as "minimal" or "retro", always wins.

Changing the look later

Every choice can be changed after the first build. Ask for it in Build mode, for example "Switch to a dark theme" or "Use a rounded, friendly font for headings." For small adjustments, such as one heading's size, use Edit in the preview. See Making changes.
