Sign-in for your users

Email and password accounts, and signing in with Google.

When your app has cloud turned on, people can create accounts and sign in. Email and password sign-in is always on. You can add Google, so people sign in with one click.

Email and password

Yorki builds the sign-up and sign-in pages your app needs. You can see everyone who signed up under Settings, Cloud, Users, set a new password for a user or delete one.

To decide who may create an account at all, see Who can create an account.

Sign-in emails

Your published app sends the emails sign-in needs by itself, from [email protected] with your app's name as the sender ("Your app via Yorki"). There is nothing to set up.

  • Confirming the email address. In the published app, a new account confirms its email before the first sign-in: after signing up, people see "Check your inbox" and get a link. Someone who tries to sign in before confirming is offered the link again. Signing in with Google needs no confirmation.
  • Forgot password. The Forgot password? link on the sign-in page emails a link to set a new password. The link works for 24 hours, and using it also confirms the address.
  • Changing an email address. The new address gets a link to confirm the change.

The links open pages of your own app, so people never leave it.

Your app can send only these sign-in emails. Other emails, such as notifications, reminders or newsletters, are not available yet.

Add Google sign-in

Google sign-in uses your own Google OAuth client, so the consent screen shows your app, not Yorki. It takes a few minutes in Google Cloud Console.

  1. Create the client. In Google Cloud Console, open APIs and services, Credentials and create an OAuth client ID of type "Web application".
  2. Add the redirect address. In Yorki, open Settings, Cloud, Sign-in and copy the Redirect address. Add it to the client's authorised redirect URIs in Google Cloud Console.
  3. Paste the keys. Copy the client ID and the client secret from Google into Google credentials in Yorki and press Turn on Google sign-in.

The Google button then appears in your app automatically.

For your published app

Your published app uses its own address, which does not change. Add it to the same Google client as a second redirect URI:

https://api-your-address.yorki.app/api/oauth2-redirect

Replace your-address with the address you picked when you published, the part before .yorki.app. Each publish passes your Google settings to the published app.

Change or turn off

To replace the keys, enter them again and press Update. The client secret is never shown again after you save it. Turn off removes Google sign-in, and people then sign in with email and password only.
