Copyright policy

Last updated 12 October 2026

We respect the rights of creators, and we expect people who build with Yorki to do the same. This policy explains how to tell us that an app built with Yorki infringes your copyright or trademark, and how an app owner can dispute a removal. It is part of our terms of use and platform rules.

We handle notices under the European Union's rules for hosting services. We also accept notices in the format of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

1. Before you send a notice

  • Check that the app is built with Yorki. Published apps live at an address ending in yorki.app.
  • Consider fair use and exceptions. Quotation, criticism, review, parody and similar uses can be allowed by law.
  • Consider writing to the owner. Many published apps show a way to contact their owner, and a direct message often solves the problem fastest.

Please include all of the following. We cannot act on a notice that leaves something out.

  1. Your contact details: your full name, postal address, telephone number and email address. If you act for the rights holder, say whom you represent.
  2. The work: a description of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed, with a link to the original where possible.
  3. The infringing material: the exact address or addresses on yorki.app where it appears, and what on those pages infringes your work.
  4. A good-faith statement: "I have a good-faith belief that the use of the material described above is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law."
  5. An accuracy statement: "The information in this notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, I am the owner of the rights, or authorised to act on behalf of the owner."
  6. Your signature: a physical or electronic signature. Typing your full name is enough.

3. How to send a notice

Email [email protected] with the subject "Copyright notice". Send one notice per rights holder, and list every address in it.

4. What happens after you send a notice

  1. We confirm that we received it.
  2. We check that it is complete. If something is missing, we ask you for it.
  3. If the notice is valid, we take the material or the app offline, or pause publishing for the project.
  4. We tell the app's owner what was removed and why, and send them a copy of your notice, including your name and contact details, so they can respond or dispute it.
  5. We tell you what we did.

5. Disputing a removal (counter-notice)

If your app was taken offline because of a copyright notice and you believe this was a mistake, or that you have the right to use the material, you can send a counter-notice. It must contain:

  1. Your contact details: your full name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  2. The removed material: the address of your app and what was removed.
  3. A statement: "Under penalty of perjury, I have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of a mistake or misidentification."
  4. Consent to jurisdiction: a statement that you accept the jurisdiction of the courts where you live or, if you live outside the United States, of any court where Yorki may be found, and that you will accept service of legal papers from the person who sent the original notice. This applies to notices sent in the DMCA format.
  5. Your signature: a physical or electronic signature.

Email it to [email protected] with the subject "Copyright counter-notice".

6. What happens after a counter-notice

We forward your counter-notice, including your contact details, to the person who sent the original notice. If they do not tell us within 10 to 14 business days that they have started legal proceedings to stop the infringement, we may let you publish the material again.

7. Repeat infringers

We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe the rights of others, in appropriate circumstances.

8. Trademarks and impersonation

An app that uses another organisation's name, logo or look in a way that is likely to confuse people, or that copies an existing commercial website one to one, breaks the platform rules. We treat it as impersonation and take it offline.

To report a trademark problem, email [email protected] with the subject "Trademark complaint". Include your contact details, the trademark and where it is registered, the addresses on yorki.app where it is used, and why the use is likely to confuse people.

9. False notices

Do not send a notice or counter-notice that you know is false. Anyone who knowingly misrepresents that material infringes, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. We may ignore notices from people who misuse this process.
