Publish your app
Pick an address, go live, publish updates and take an app offline.
Publishing puts your app on its own web address, where anyone with the link can use it. You can publish updates whenever you like.
Publish for the first time
- Press Publish. The button is at the top right of the builder. It waits while a build is running.
- Pick an address. Type a name and Yorki checks it as you type. Your app will live at
your-name.yorki.app. - Confirm. Yorki builds your app, sets up its published cloud if it has one, and puts it online. The dialog shows each step.
- Share it. When the dialog says "Your app is live", use Copy link or Open. It can take a moment for a new address to reach everyone.
Address rules
- 3 to 63 characters.
- Lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, with no hyphen at the start or end.
- Some names are reserved, such as
www, api, admin, docsoryorki, and so are names starting withapi-orpreview-. - Names that look like other brands are not available.
Yorki suggests an address based on your project's name.
Apps with cloud
The first time you publish an app with cloud, its published cloud starts and the data in your preview cloud is copied to it, so visitors see what you saw in the preview. Test accounts are left out.
Later publishes update the published cloud's structure, such as new tables or fields, and keep its data. When an update would change data your live app already holds, the dialog shows "This update changes your app's live data structure" and asks you to confirm. A backup is taken first, but data that an update removes cannot be brought back afterwards.
If an update cannot be applied to the published cloud yet, the dialog says so. Ask for a fix in the chat, build again, then publish.
Publish an update
After you make changes, press Update, then Publish update. Your live app is replaced by your latest version. The preview and your versions are not affected.
The Yorki badge
Published apps show a small Built with Yorki badge in the bottom-right corner. It links to Yorki. A visitor can close it with its ×, and it comes back the next time the page loads. Yorki adds it when you publish, so you will not see it in the preview, and it cannot be removed. If your app has its own floating button, such as a chat bubble, ask for it in the bottom-left corner so the two never overlap.
Take an app offline
In the publish dialog, choose Unpublish this app and confirm with Yes, take it offline. You can also do this under Settings, General, Publishing.
The address stays yours, and the published cloud is stopped, not deleted. Publishing again brings the app and its data back.
If publishing fails
The dialog shows what went wrong and offers Try again. If the same step keeps failing, Yorki's team is told automatically.
Taken offline by Yorki
Published apps are checked automatically. An app that breaks the platform rules, or that Google lists as unsafe, is taken offline and its owner gets an email explaining why. Your project and its data stay as they are and you can keep working on it, but publishing is paused. If you think it is a mistake, write to [email protected]. See report abuse.
Custom domains
Published apps live on an address ending in yorki.app. Using your own domain is coming later in the alpha.
